“You have to dream. We all have to dream. Dreaming is okay. Imagine me teaching from space, all over the world, touching so many peoples lives. That’s a teachers dream! I have a vision of the world as a global village, a world without boundaries. Imagine a history teacher making history!” -Christa McAuliffe

Hello! My name is Logan Kurtz, and I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Mary Washington. I am a history major and I am in the education program in the pursuit of becoming a middle school social studies teacher.

Outside of my studies at the University of Mary Washington, I lead in a variety of student groups, including serving as the Ambassador and Liaison for the Carl D. Silver Hillel Center, the Trivia Chair for Campus Programming Board, and will serve as the Secretary for the Student Education Association (the on campus organization to support future teachers). I also participate actively in the Honors Student Activity Council and the History and American Studies Club. I have also had the privilege to be employed as a Peer Mentor. In the Peer Mentor position, I served as a resource for a group of college freshmen for adjusting to college life, and helped engage this group with the college and with each other.

My education is my greatest passion, as I enjoy gaining the skills and experience that will make me the best teacher I can be for my future students. After all, being a teacher means being a lifelong learner. Aside from my education, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, traveling, reading, and being with my cats.
